Geng Daojin — A Pursuit of Essence

He born in 1990 in Heze, Shandong, was admitted to the Ceramic Art program at Jingdezhen Ceramic University in 2012, where he systematically studied traditional ceramic craftsmanship and contemporary creative language. In 2016, he established his personal studio and has continued creating independently ever since. His work consistently centers on the essential expression of ceramic materials. Rather than pursuing avant-garde forms, he returns to the material itself—seeking a restrained, balanced, and mature aesthetic through the dialogue between clay, glaze, and fire. HIs works are formed through single continuous wheel-throwing. This technique, completed in one uninterrupted motion, resembles traditional Chinese calligraphy—where the energy flows from the first stroke to the last without pause. This approach fully reveals the unique sculptural beauty of ceramic material shaped through wheel-throwing.
